Impact story

Coffee at Moira’s House

May 28 2025

Introduction

The ways our community has shared the joy this month have our team celebrating daily (literally). We won’t get too ahead of ourselves, but there is a lot to celebrate!

One moment in particular, from this past weekend in Riverside, stood out. We knew we had to share it with you!

Here’s the story of Coffee at Moira’s House.

Meet Lydia and Ivan, two Ambassadors for May is for Missions.

Both have been playing the role of senders for several years now, praying and giving to advance the gospel among UPGs. But this May, the two wanted to get creative. They were bold enough to ask the question, “How can we share the joy of sending with everyone in our community at once?”

The answer? Coffee.

See, Lydia is nothing short of a coffee connoisseur (she honed her skills as a roaster at a few of Riverside’s best coffee shops). Alongside her trusty golden doodle, Moira, she’s known for brewing amazing coffee! Ivan, on the other hand, is a local icon. When he invites people to an event, they show up!

Combining their skills and networks for a coffee pop-up was an obvious choice. The two sent a simple invitation to all their friends and family: come to Moira’s house for coffee and help eliminate the Robinsons’ barrier of student debt.

40+ people showed up to do just that!

Lydia and Ivan’s pop-up was a hit! When the final cup of coffee had been poured, Lydia and Ivan had raised over $400.

This is the kind of energy our AIRO community is bringing to the Great Commission. (We bet you are too!) It’s what May is for Missions has always been about: sharing the joy we have as senders through our time, talents, or treasures. And seeing Lydia and Ivan put all three forward to invite their community into the story… that’s energy! ⚡

We’re excited to share that we’ve reached 90% of our $10,000 goal this month—$9,016 to be exact. The finish line is in sight! If you’ve been considering jumping in with a one-time gift, now is the time!

We’d love to celebrate hitting our goal with you!

Quick update from the Robinsons.

With all the action happening this May is for Missions, the Robinsons asked us to send this quick update your way! Take a look:

To the AIRO Community,

We want to express our heartfelt gratitude for your support in helping pay off our student loans! Your generosity makes it possible for us to head back overseas much sooner to serve the Lord and come alongside our fellow image bearers who do not yet know Him. Thanks to your partnership, the burden of student loans does not have to be a hindrance for us in following the Great Commission!

With love,
Kyle+ Carolyn Robinson

It really is an honor to play our role in helping get partners like Kyle + Carolyn to the field. Your partnership makes that possible.

Thank you for your support this May. We can’t wait to see how God uses a month about missions for His eternal purposes!

We send with great joy.

It’s our greatest privilege to help send missionary partners like Kyle + Carolyn to the field and to keep them there long-term! We don’t want you to miss out on it.
