How death loses its sting.

For years, Pisu did not yet know Jesus.
But that’s not how his story ended.

Pisu’s story

A man asking for a missionary.

For seven years, a Maliyali tribal elder named Pisu sent men on a week’s walk across Papua New Guinea. Their mission was to visit a neighboring tribe that had been sent a missionary, all to ask one thing: was there someone who could bring their people “God’s talk?”
Pisu was an old man, and he knew there was a chance he would die before he heard it.

The Rimestads

Bringing the gospel to the Maliyali tribe.

David and Emily Rimestad, AIRO’s first missionary partners, heard Pisu’s call. They trained and prepared to go to the tribe, but were stopped by student debt. Their loan amounts exceeded their sending agency’s debt ceiling—meaning the Maliyali would be out of reach until this barrier was removed.

But that’s not how their story ended. Because of your faithfulness to send and their faithfulness to go, they were able to bring the good news of Jesus to Pisu.

This is the story of how death has lost its sting on the unreached in Maliyali.

“You helped us bring the gospel to a people group who otherwise would have never heard it.”
– David Rimestad

How death loses its sting:

Someone has to hear.

Pisu heard the gospel because a missionary was free to go.

Someone has to go.

The Rimestads were free to go because people like you made payments on the student debt they called "a mountain that would need to be moved."

Someone has to hold the rope.

A gift today pays missionaries’ student debt, enabling them to leave for the field and stay there long-term.

Make a gift

Help the next generation of missionaries bring the gospel to the unreached.

Our end-of-year goal is to raise $400,000. This will let us approve 40 new missionaries for student debt repayment.

100% of your gift goes toward eliminating student debt for missionaries.
